Vintage 1930s Hashmat Rai Confectionery Label | Antique Rajkot India Lithograph | Indian Trade Label Ephemera A vibrant piece of early Indian commercial printing history, this color lithograph trade label dates to the 1930s and was produced for Hashmat Rai Indian Confectionery Works of Rajkot City, Gujarat. The design follows the lavish decorative conventions typical of Indian product labels from this golden era of lithographic printing: an elaborate scrollwork border with floral corner accents frames a central illustrated Amritsar cityscape vignette featuring the Golden Temple flying pennant flags with gothic clock tower, all rendered against a soft blue-green sky and set above a reflecting body of water. Below the architectural scene, a registered trademark device depicts an elephant resting among red lotus blossoms — a charming and distinctly period motif for a confectionery brand. Bold red ribbon banners carry the “Hashmat Rai” name and “Confectionery” lettering in cream block type, while the lower text panel confirms the maker as Hashmat Rai Indian Confectionery Works, Rajkot City, with a net weight designation of 3 Kgs. A wonderful collectible for enthusiasts of 1930s Indian advertising ephemera, vintage food and candy packaging design, lithographic print history, and pre-independence South Asian commercial graphic art. Details: Label is affixed to a white cardboard backing Measurements: 4.4″ width; 5″ height (5.4 x 7.4″ with backing) Weight: 0.2 oz Origin: India
