Description Produced by W. and Alex Walker of Birmingham, England as examples of high-quality coins that they could produce for United States circulation at less cost than a government-run mint. Walker shipped 2,500 large eagle cents to Philadelphia for presentation to legislators. Most of these samples found their way into circulation in a coinage starved United States.
