Description 1733 Spanish Treasure Fleet – 8 Reales Silver Cob The 1733 Spanish treasure fleet was a convoy of 21 ships that set sail from Havana, Cuba, in July 1733, bound for Spain. Carrying a vast wealth of gold, silver, and other precious items from the New World, the fleet’s voyage was cut short when a powerful hurricane struck it. As a result, many of the ships were either sunk or wrecked along the Florida Keys. While the Spanish authorities managed to recover a significant portion of the sunken treasure in the following years, some of the wreckage and their valuable cargo remain lost to this day.
