Shock n’ Swim is a pool chemical designed to be a non-chlorine shock treatment. Unlike traditional chlorine shocks that primarily add a large dose of chlorine to the water, Shock n’ Swim is a fast-acting oxidizer that works to break down organic contaminants without raising the chlorine level. This makes it a great option for regular maintenance, as it can be used to “refresh” the pool water without the need for a long waiting period before swimming. The key benefit of a non-chlorine shock like Shock n’ Swim is its ability to destroy chloramines. Chloramines are the “combined chlorine” molecules that form when chlorine reacts with organic waste from swimmers, such as sweat and body oils.
